Gutter

What is a Gutter?

Gutters collect rainwater from your roof and channel it to the ground through a downspout. Without a gutter the rain will run freely down the sides of your house, causing all kinds of staining and damage.

Types of Gutters

There are 3 main styles of gutters:

K-Style: This is the most common style among homeowners. It features a unique shape on the front edge and It is also the least costly option. This style of gutter is very modern so they compliment almost every home and they come in a wide variety of styles and colors.

Half-Round: This style is used in historic or older style homes. Their name describes them perfectly. They are half of a circular pipe with the top half open for water. They are known to be more rustic, since they are usually made from Copper but can also be made from  Aluminum, Vinyl, or Galvanized Steel.

Box gutters: This style is an over-sized gutter that is mainly used for commercial or industrial buildings. They are designed to handle large amounts of water from larger roofs.

Galvanized steel and aluminum gutters have an average lifespan of 20 years

Copper gutters, a more high-end option, can last up to 50 years.

Gutters and Downspouts are all made from the same types of materials. K-Style and Half-Round are available in any material (Aluminum, Copper, Vinyl, and Galvanized Steel) while Box style is only available in Aluminum or Copper.
