Siding

What is Siding?

Siding is a material used to surface the exterior of a building to protect against exposure to the elements, prevent heat loss, and visually improve the look of your home.

Types of Siding

We install many types of siding but the 3 main styles include:

Vinyl Siding: This style of siding is low cost, low maintenance, and very commonly used among home owners. Vinyl siding comes in strips with interlocking edges, it is available in a variety of textures, including wood shake/shingle style. Vinyl can be prone to cracking in cold weather or from excessive sun exposure.

Wood Siding: Many would agree that wood siding is the most beautiful and most eco-friendly option. Common types of wood siding include wood planks, boards or panels, shingles, and shakes.

Wood siding is available in a wide variety of styles, textures, and finishes. Most importantly wood requires an exterior finish, such as paint or stain. It can be damaged by sun exposure, rot, and insects; it is subject to warping and splitting.

It requires regular maintenance, and should be sealed every two years, to prolong its life. All wood products need a sealer, especially those that are outside.

Fiber Cement Siding: Cement fiber siding is the latest development in residential siding. This style replicates the look of wood, it is extremely durable, requires little to no maintenance, and it is not subject to rot or insect damage. It is much more durable than an actual wood product and the paint finish is guaranteed for 15 years.
